New Mexico Industrial Hemp Act 2009

It’s only a matter of time before industrial hemp in grown again on American soil. New Mexico State has introduced a Industrial Hemp Farming Act. Wed Feb 11th 2009.

HB 403 INDUSTRIAL HEMP FARMING ACT Sponsor: Ray Begaye Current Location: House Business & Industry Committee Actions:

INDUSTRIAL HEMP FARMING ACT Sponsor: Cisco McSorley Current Location: Senate Public Affairs Committee Actions: would research growing industrial hemp for food and fiber economic purposes.

Considering serious the sad state of the US economy we are experiencing, the worst has yet to come. Growing hemp in New Mexico could be an agriculture boom for the local family farmers. Industrial Hemp has overwhelming support including the State legislature and State senate.

According to a recent Wall Street Journal article Jan 20th 2009 is about the Natural Foods Industry Association, explains how hemp seeds and hemp products are the fastest growing new food category in North America. They (Hemp seeds) are considered a new top super food for protein and essential fatty acid (EFA) intake.

Agriculture provides a considerable source of income for New Mexico yet other major crops such as onions, pecans and sorghum are grown in this dry climate. Pinto beans, piñon nuts, and chili peppers are also raised.

Other specialty specialty crops include piñon nuts, pinto beans, and chiles. When you add Industrial Hemp into this and we can expect a new green profitable industry to emerge. Manufacturing and processing facilities would have to be built or retrofitted creating jobs around the state

Footnote: Photosynthesis 1 ton of hemp converts approximately 2 tons of carbon dioxide into oxygen.

It is extremely important that all who wish to see the 2009 Hemp Act passed by congress to write to their congress members telling them to support and co-sponsor this bill.

Deluge them with calls and emails. That is the only way they will know there is public support for this bill.

It is actually called: United States: Industrial Hemp Farming Act 2009 (HR 1866)
and was introduced by Ron Paul.

One day soon, hopefully very soon, hemp will be grown in America as you stated above.
