Hemcrete© is a considered a negative carbon bio-composite building material.
Hemcrete is made from the woody core of the cannabis plant (hemp hurds) and lime made from heated calcium carbonate which, when combined, creates a chemical reaction binding the mixture together. CO2 holds within the material, 100kg of CO2 per square meter of wall.
*Considering up to 200kg of CO2 is emitted in the production of each square meter of walling of a house.
A typical hemp house would be approx. 400 tonnes of CO2 emitted to produce all the walls.
